Restrictions on entry of goods vehicles for HS exams

With the clock of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) examination ticking faster, the city police have issued an advisory restricting the entry of all types of goods vehicles between 6am to 12pm in the city.

The restrictions would be in place from 16 to 29 February except on 18, 25, 26 February.

According to the advisory, movement of all types of goods are to be restricted in the jurisdiction of the Kolkata Police, except the newly-added Bhangar division. The city port-bound or originated goods vehicles would get two hours additionally and be allowed to ply till 8am on the 11 days of the examination period. Likewise, ‘emergency vehicles’, carrying articles like LPG cylinders, petroleum, oil, lubricants, oxygen, medicine and perishable items including milk, fruits, vegetable, fish and so on, would also be allowed to ply in the city till 8am.

Notably, the WBCHSE exams are scheduled to be held from 16-29 February. Like Madhyamik, the timings of the upcoming HS exams also have been revised and are to be held between 9.45am to 1pm.

Considering the exams, Eastern Railway’s Sealdah division has announced providing of additional stoppages of EMU/Passenger trains at Palta, Jagaddal, Kankinara, Payradanga and Jalalkhali Halt stations in Sealdah – Ranaghat – Krishnanagar section and Sanhati and Bibhuti Bhushan Halt station in Barasat – Bongaon section on specific days and time. The additional stoppages are to be given to EMU/Passenger trains running between 8am to 9.45am and 1pm to 2.30pm on 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28 and 29 February.
