The state tourism department is mulling plans to launch a QR code system that would enable tourists to read writings in Persian script on archaeological pieces. According to state tourism minister Babul Supriyo, there are several places in the state where there are archeological pieces having writings in Persian script on them.

With the new system, visitors would be able to get information about the archeological piece or place by scanning the QR code on their mobile phones, informed the minister. Notably, in what comes as an achievement for the state in the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) tourism sector, the G20 secretariat has praised the first round of the three-day meetings held in the city.

The secretariat has said that the first G20 meeting should be modeled for other such events, informed Debashis Sen, managing director of West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) today. The first round of the threeday G20 meeting on ‘Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion’ was held between 9 to 11 January.

Delegates from across the globe participated in the event while Mamata Banerjee attended the meeting. The second meeting will be on 8-9 February.
