The three-Judge constitution Bench, set up to hear the contempt of court ruling issued by Justice Rajasekhar Mantha against a section of the lawyers in connection with the alleged mayhem at the former’s court, in a ruling today proscribed posters, banners, and holding any sort of demonstrations anywhere, including the premise of the Calcutta High Court till the disposal of the case and also asked the state to submit report on the actiontaken against the poster blitz near the residence of Justice Mantha and in the court in a week’s time.
The three-judge Bench also issued notices to the commissioner of city police, additional commissioner of police, high court and the officer in-charge Lake Police station for submission of the said report by 2 February by the commissioner .
The Bench, through the ruling, also made it clear that the findings of the report must mention the persons, who had placed orders for such posters, the printing press from where the posters had been printed and who the persons were behind putting up. The ruling also mentioned that the OC, Lake police station, would be responsible to submit all relevant documents to the CP, ACP high court would be responsible to furnish requisite certificate for accepting pen drive to the high court.
Meanwhile, there is still to be any breakthrough regarding any arrests of the alleged offenders against whom an FIR was lodged since the incident of defaming Justice Mantha had taken place and the city police have the liberty to scan through the CCTV footage for the identification.
