CPI-M today says that the people across the country are realising the threat that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government poses to the democratic principles enshrined in the Constitution. CPI-M politburo member and former MP Muhammad Salim said that the union government must recognise the citizens of the country otherwise how long would the people tolerate the government’s misrule.

After a certain time there will be a revolt. Expressing his concerns over competitive political communalism, CPI (M) leader alleged that there is complete constitutional breakdown in the country.

“The erosion of the Constitution is necessary for the RSS to convert secular democratic India to a Hindu Rashtra. CAA (Citizenship (Amendment) Act is being used as an issue to stoke communal passions to divide people and consolidate the Hindutva vote bank. They are destroying the secular fabric of our country by breaking people’s unity,” he said.

He also said that it seems that chief minister Mamata Banerjee, union home minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are from same RSS Nagpur school as they speaking in the same tone.

“BJP is trying to revive pain of partition again through CAA and NRC. Even Miss Banerjee, who once revered Lal Krishna Advani as her political guru , who supported driving out of Bengali people from Assam. During Parliament session former MP Indrajit Gupta then opposed against it and told Advani not to play with fire,” he said.

Salim said that Union government is seeking papers for providing citizenship rights to the people of the country.

“If lakhs of unemployed youths having papers in support of their academic qualification seek jobs and submit those before Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government, will Mr Modi provide jobs to them? The NRC process in Assam has put the BJP in a bind since about 16 lakh, of the total 19 lakh people who could not prove their citizenship, are non- Muslims.” said Mr Salim.

CPI-M former MP said Modi government threw several students into jail for raising slogan for “Azadi” (freedom) now everywhere people are shouting for Azadi. “People are from all corner rising themselves to resist the autocratic step of an oppressive government. Let see how many jails will be constructed to throw mass into prisons,” he said.
