Panagarh railway station, a vital hub under the Asansol division of Eastern Railway, has undergone a transformation, emerging as a world-class station under the ambitious Amrit Station Scheme. From seamless connectivity to passenger-centric infrastructure, Panagarh station has been revamped to cater to the growing needs of commuters while upholding the rich heritage of Indian Railways.
The station, operational in its new avatar from today, now boasts state-of-the-art facilities, improved aesthetics, and enhanced amenities, aligning with global standards of transportation hubs. According to the ER, the upgrades include modernized platforms, energy-efficient lighting, advanced ticketing systems, expanded waiting areas, and improved accessibility features for differently-abled passengers.
As learnt from the zonal railway office, key upgrades at the station include, construction of a modern booking complex on the south side (second entry) with dedicated access and a counter for divyangjan passengers, provision of a comfortable waiting hall equipped with attached toilets, including facilities for divyangjan, integrated passenger information system, platform refurbishment and shelters, standard LED signages and circulating area development.
