The director, North Bengal Wild Animals Park (NBWAP), popularly known as Bengal Safari, in Siliguri today officially denied the alleged naming of animals that arrived in the park for captive breeding.
The Director NBWAP, in a letter to the secretary of Hindu Sabhya Samaj (HSS) and the president of Hindu Jagaran Mancha (HJM), has informed, “Till date, there is no naming of animals with respect to lion and lioness has been accorded from this end.”
Notably, the HSS and the HJM activists today staged demonstrations and asked authorities concerned about naming of Lion and Lioness following media reports.
Based on sources information, media had reported that a lion named Akbar and his partner lioness Sita arrived in Bengal Safari, from Tripura, for captive breeding following successful captive breeding of Royal Bengal Tiger here.
