MGNREGA workers thank Mamata for money in their accounts

Chief minister from her dharna manch in Kolkata had declared that the state government will pay the pending dues for 100 days’ work. On Tuesday, the workers of Mogra-1 gram panchayat and workers from Dhingra village, Bali gram Panchayat Goghat-1 received their pending dues in their bank accounts.

Bag, Shafali Singh, Chandana Ray and others from Gohat and Subal Bag and others from Mogra said they have no words to thank Mamata Banerjee for her initiative to pay the dues, which the central government did not pay. “Our Didi understands our problems. Every bit of money that we earn is precious to us.”

Mogra gram panchayat deputy pradhan Raghunath Bhoumik said in the financial year 2021-22 and 2022-23, a total of Rs 31 lakh was disbursed and 880 workers received their dues. 11 workers have died meanwhile.
