Good news for local train commuters. The inaugural service of the modified Matribhumi Local operated by Eastern Railway with first class coaches between Ranaghat and Sealdah was flagged off by MP Jagannath Sarkar, from Ranaghat station today.
The train running between Ranaghat and Sealdah and meant for women commuters is a 12 coach rake with one each marked as first class ladies coach after the motor coach on either side. Half of the third coaches on either side are also to be marked for vendors and half for women passengers with second class ordinary tickets.
As informed by the Eastern Railway, the local train with GPS-based passenger information system has air suspension type rake. It also includes a modified seating facility with cushion fitted seats in both ends with provision of two mobile charging points in each ladies coach.
For surveillance the first-class coaches are also equipped with six CCTV at both ends of the EMU ladies coaches. During the regular services, the train in the Down direction having 31602 as train number, would depart Ranaghat at 7.45 a.m, and arrive at Sealdah station at 9.28 a.m. For the Up journey, 31601 Sealdah-Ranaghat Matribhumi Special would leave Sealdah at 5.54 a.m, to arrive at Ranaghat station at 7.40 p.m.
