Due to inclement weather a flight of Indigo from New Delhi to Durgapur (Andal) could not land and instead landed at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata.
The passengers have to wait for about two-and-half hours at Kolkata before the plane again left for Andal.
Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport sources in Andal said that the 6E2146 flight, which was coming from New Delhi was scheduled to land at around 6.10 pm.
Due to storms and heavy rainfall the flight could not land at Andal and instead landed at Kolkata.
Only last month, due to inclement weather conditions, the passengers of a Spicejet flight at Durgapur were injured while landing.
The DGCA has probed the incident of the Spicejet aircraft and a number of passengers have to be admitted in the hospital after the aircraft landed at Andal. The ATC of Andal airport was also grilled.
Andal is the first privately operated greenfield airport in the country and is of 4C category and has night landing facilities.
