Prime minister Narendra Modi today virtually laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of Bandel station. Present on the occasion was Governor C V Ananda Bose and higher officials of Eastern Railways.
Prime minister spoke about the development work that has taken place in the last 10 years and laid much stress on upgradation, modernization and world class development work in the Indian railways. He said, “The development work in the railways has its far reaching positive effects even in the grass root level of the society. The development work in the railways strongly adheres to the heritage importance of a place, (virasat aur vikas) upholding the heritage, tradition and cultural importance of a place.”
Governor Dr C V Ananda Bose speaking on the occasion said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is well known for his double engine government. Today is a game-changing day. The Prime minister is laying the foundation stone for the upgradation of railway stations in the state as well as underpasses, more than Rs 700 crore is being spent for West Bengal by the Centre.”
The Governor laid stress on students and the upcoming generation. He said, “They should be made aware of the progress and developmental work; they should feel that they are also a part of the ongoing progress and development and should grow with a positive mindset.”
