The stage is all set for the upcoming official visit of chief minister Mamata Banerjee in Purulia on Tuesday as the SP and DM of Purulia district inspected the last-minute preparations and held meetings on the security measures undertaken.

Rajat Nanda, district magistrate of Purulia and Abhijit Banerjee, superintendent of Purulia inspected the venue of the CM’s official visit at Battery Ground in Shimulia at the outskirts of Purulia town and also inspected the helipad which has been set up near the venue.

Former state minister Shantiram Mahato was also present during the inspection and meeting.

After her official programme the CM will fly to Bankura for her official programme and then to Jhargram as part of her Junglemahal district tour before leaving for Kolkata. The programme is scheduled to start at noon.

Sources said that the chief minister will inaugurate Rs 3,000 crore projects under the Pathashree projects. She will also hand over government facilities to over sixty people on the stage.

Though the details of her entire programme are yet to be finalised by Nabanna so far, the district administration has held an emergency meeting with all the departments of the district for the upcoming official tour of CM Mamata Banerjee.

The upcoming visit of the chief minister is very crucial as she is coming to these Junglemahal districts on official tour after a year and just few months before the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The Trinamul Congress has fared poorly in the Junglemahal districts in Purulia, Bankura and Jhargram in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and even also in the 2021 Assembly polls.

The party supporters are now waiting for the CM’s arrival in these districts and what message she will give to the voters to motivate party supporters before the general elections and are also likely to announce a host of new projects, including some major industrial projects, party sources said.

At Raghunathpur in Purulia, the CM has announced to set up her dream project – Jungle Sundari industrial township project, which she feels will act as a game changer in the socio-economic scenario of the most backward district of the state.

In search of jobs, every year several thousands of youth migrate to other states as labourers. The CM wants to provide them with jobs in their home districts.

She has also announced plans to set up a film city in Purulia like Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad which will further boost the film tourism sector in the state.

In the tourism sector also several projects have been undertaken and Ayodhya Hills of Purulia has already become a top tourism destination. A tourism circuit is also being planned in the coming days and adventure tourism projects will also be set up.
