We could have offered appointments to at least 60,000-70,000 new teachers, but the CPM, accompanied by the BJP and the Congress, out of political vendetta have posed roadblocks, seeking legal shelter, lamented chief minister Mamata Banerjee while addressing a public meeting after her administrative review meeting for the twin districts of East and West Burdwan here this afternoon.

She added that the legal tangle has caused inconvenience for the educated unemployed youths of our state. She appealed, “Raise your voice against the anarchy of the evil combine. If there are anomalies, let the judiciary take penalty measures or ask for rectification. But the fresh appointments must be allowed and granted.”

At a time when the job seekers have started intensifying movement against the state, the chief minister’s appeal to the rebellious TETqualified unemployed youth has added a new twist to the political scenario ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Banerjee also appealed to the judiciary saying, “We’ll forward fresh appeals to the court to sort out the bottlenecks in the issue.”

The chief minister said, “Bengal has progressed significantly in small and cottage industry sectors, creating jobs for 1.5cr youths. Our government has already offered Sikshashree benefits to 1.17cr persons, 3.90cr minority scholarships, social security cover to 1.63cr. Our flagship project, Kanyashree, that’s earned international appraisal, has already covered 85 lakh girls. We’ve extended facilities to 16.20 lakh women for their marriage under the Rupashree scheme.

Now, I’ve personally added one Benarasi Sari each as a gift for their marriage.” The chief minister said 7.81cr residents of the state have enrolled their name in state’s own Swasthya Sathi health insurance scheme. The chief minister today offered benefits under different government schemes to 4L East Burdwan residents and 1.60 lakh West Burdwan residents.

The CM mocked the BJP for Prime Minister’s announcement of a half-day holiday on the day of consecration of idol of Ram Lalla at Ram temple in Ayodhya, two days ago. She said, “In the name of religion, they can declare holiday but cannot do so on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birthday. They are out to malign the great sons of Bengal every now and then.

We won’t tolerate this. People of Bengal won’t accept this.” Yesterday’s news with the headline, “After Murshidabad, Mamata meets TMC’s Birbhum top brass” had erroneously stated that TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was part of the meeting. The error is regretted.
