Chief minister Mamata Banerjee today slammed Mr Sadhan Pandey, state minister for Consumer Affairs and Self Help Group and Self-Employment and deputy mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Mr Atin Ghosh, for allegedly claiming that the CM’s rallies are organised more in south Kolkata than in north Kolkata.
Miss Banerjee, while unveiling the Durga Puja of Hatibagan Sarbojonin said: “Atin and Sadhanda have said wrong things.
I do Kali Puja inaugurations in north Kolkata only and not in south Kolkata. I do not want to comment more, since I don’t want to do any politics while inaugurating the Pujas.
Everyday from today, I will have to inaugurate many Pujas and while inaugurating, I don’t like politicising any issue.
I organise more rallies in north Kolkata than in south Kolkata. I organise rallies in north Kolkata once every two to three months. However, Atin Ghosh did not once mention that this year’s journey of Puja inauguration has started from Hati Bagan, (North Kolkata).
Also, around 15 days back, I had organised a rally at Shyam Bazar where I come at least four to five times in a year. How far is Hatibagan from Shyambazar? Again, there is another rally scheduled on 18 October from Sealdah Flyover. Hence, this is not true. I hold more rallies in north than in south Kolkata.”
She also inaugurated Chaltabagan Lohapotti and Hindustan Club Puja today.
