The city experienced an overall of 10.3 mm rainfall that ranged from moderate to heavy.
A low pressure belt over North West Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood areas can be attributed to the rainfall in the city, said an official of the regional meteorological department.
The official further added that the formation of this monsoon trough is very likely to cause light to moderate rainfall for the next 24 hours.
It was learnt that the maximum and minimum temperature recorded as of 5.30 pm, was 32 degree Celsius and 27 degree Celsius, respectively.
The maximum relative humidity was 95 per cent while the minimum was 74 per cent. Heavy rainfall measuring 20 mm and 14 mm with thunderstorms, lashed Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling while Bankura and Haldia witnessed 5 mm and 7 mm of rainfall.
