In a shocking incident in the Garia Station area, the bodies of three individuals were discovered hanging from locked flat. Local residents reported a pungent smell, leading them to alert the police.
Upon breaking down the door, authorities found mother, father, and their 49-year-old son hanging from the ceiling. Initial suspicions suggested a possible suicide pact, as the door was locked from inside. However, the motive behind the family’s decision remains unclear.
The victims were identified as Aparna Moitra (68), her husband Swapan Moitra (75), and their son Sumonraj Moitra. Swapan, an engineer by profession, had been part of the local community for years. Concerns were raised by neighbors who hadn’t seen any member of the Moitra family for the past three days. The police, who discovered the bodies in different rooms of the apartment, have yet to find any suicide notes.
Sumonraj on 28 December had done a Facebook live, though there is not much clarity on it.A nearby resident, whose house is situated next to the Moitra’s apartment, expressed bewilderment, stating, “I haven’t seen them open the door since Saturday. Today, we noticed a foul smell. I have no idea what happened.”
