BJP targets 25 seats from Bengal for LS polls

Setting an ambitious target of 25 seats in the Lok Sabha polls in 2024 and further improving its performance in the upcoming three-tier gram panchayat election, the rejuvenated state BJP’s two-day special meeting began at a luxury hotel in Durgapur, today.

Bharatiya Janata Party’s national president JP Nadda set the tone for the upcoming polls in the state at a public meeting in Nadia yesterday and at this juncture the two-day BJP special meeting in Durgapur is very much significant. The BJP central leadership has set a target of winning 25 seats out of total 42 in West Bengal, a jump from 18 seats it won in 2019.

Incidentally, two MPs, Babul Supriyo from Asansol and Arjun Singh from Barrackpore have already joined the Trinamul. And in the Asansol Lok Sabha by-polls, the TMC has managed to break the jinx for the first time and won by a margin of 3 lakh votes in 2022. Dilip Ghosh, national vicepresident, Dr Sukanta Majumdar, state president, Suvendu Adhikari, Leader Of Opposition, Jagannath Sarkar, Khagen Murmu, Soumitra Khan, Locket Chatterjee, Agnimitra Paul, Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato, Lakshman Ghorui etc were present in the meeting.

About 150 delegates will participate in the two-day meet. The state BJP leadership is rejuvenated after PM Narendra Modi has praised the efforts of reviving the party in the state despite a poor performance in the 2021 Assembly polls.
