Bangladesh couple booked from Guskara

A Bangladeshi couple were intercepted by the police from Guskara area in East Burdwan today.

The couple, Dulal Shil and Swapna Shil, as per police records, were residing at a rented accommodation in Netaji Pally in Guskara town. They had appealed for a passport using forged documents, which was revealed during verification. They were arrested today. They had sneaked in through the porous stretch of the border with the help of some touts.

An illegal immigrant in India is a foreigner, who enters India without valid documents and is subject to The Foreigners Act, 1946.

On 8 August, 2021, an infiltrator Osman Ali of Jhoraidaha district in Bangladesh was arrested by the police from Bhatar in East Burdwan. Also, on 29 December, 2021, a 29-year-old Ajit Biswas of Bangladesh was picked up from Eora village in Bhatar.
