Chairman of Asansol Durgapur Development Authority (ADDA) Tapas Banerjee has alleged that 24 developers, each in Asansol and Durgapur areas, have been issued showcause notices for non-compliance of norms. All these developers have been constructing houses without taking NOC from ADDA, he claimed. He has said that 14 developers have been issued showcause notices twice as they have failed to reply till date and 10 developers have been served show-cause notices for the first time.

Without the NOC of ADDA no building plan can be passed in Asansol and Durgapur by the civic bodies. “It is mandatory to take no objection certificates (NOC) first from ADDA by all these developers and get their housing projects sanctioned before starting development work. Otherwise those who have purchased the plots and buildings will suffer.

I request the people of Asansol and Durgapur to please verify all the papers of these almost 50-odd projects spread in civic or panchayat areas before purchasing,” appealed Tapas Banerjee. The sitting MLA of Raniganj, Tapas Banerjee has also said that letters have been sent to the WBSEDCL for not giving power connections and also the banks not to provide loans in these projects.

He said that the ADDA will wait for a reply from these developers and then will decide about the next course of action. He claimed that the state government is losing revenue from these housing projects which have mushroomed in and around Asansol and Durgapur. Chandan Mishra, one such developer who has been issued notice said that will reply in a couple of days. The group is developing plots for houses in Durgapur, Andal and Asansol..
