The former Birbhum district president of the Trinamul Congress Anubrata Mondal met two of his ‘loyalists’ at Shaktigarh, while being taken to Kolkata by the police on Wednesday.
Kripamoy Ghosh and Chhoton Singh, both of Mondal’s ‘loyalists’ were waiting at the langcha outlet in Shaktigarh on the national highway-19 near Burdwan this morning when Mondal got down from the police vehicle.
They reportedly accompanied Mondal to the washroom of the outlet when the policemen were seen waiting outside. Toofan Mirdha, driver of Mondal’s daughter Sukanya also joined them, shortly. Mirdha, Ghosh and Singh arrived at Shaktigarh in the vehicle of Moloy Pit, owner of an academic institution. Pit incidentally was quizzed by the CBI twice in connection with the cattle smuggling case.
The trio held a brief discussion with Mondal for nearly 10 minutes, which raises questions, how did the policemen allow them to sit with Mondal, a person in custody?
Ghosh was expelled from the fishery department on corruption charges while he’s posted at Jamunadighi project in Ausgram. He’s one of Mondal’s close aides in Ausgram.
Sheikh Abrarul Haq, owner of the confectionery, later said, “For the first time Mondal ordered two sweets for himself. Also, he had four kachuris. Mondal used to halt for sometime whenever he used to travel to Kolkata or return to Bolpur. Always he preferred to take jhalmuri and liquor tea but today his dish was exceptional.”
