“Makkar aadmi jhoot baat bolta hai, itna bhi aadmi gir santa hai-malum nehi tha. Sharm ana chahiye usko (a crafty man is talking lie. I had no idea a person could stoop so low. He should be ashamed),” said Kirti Azad while reacting to the X-handle post of BJP media cell in-charge Amit Malviya here today.
Azad is the Trinamul Congress candidate for the Burdwan-Durgapur Lok Sabha seat. With his candidature, Malviya on his X-handle claimed, ‘Kirti’s father’s henchmen had kidnapped a Bengali woman Papri Bose Roy in Bhagalpur and forced 50,000 Bengali Hindu families to quit the place. Now, Mamata Banerjee has found him a suitable candidate for Bengal.” Azad incidentally was an elected MP for three terms as BJP candidate.
Azad offered puja at the iconic Sarbamangala temple in Burdwan town this morning and then joined some cricketers at Radharani stadium here where a cricket league match was in progress. He took the bat in hand and displayed some master strokes to the district players. About his former cricket colleagues, former national cricketer Azad said, “I don’t want to invite them during elections here. I want to keep cricket beyond politics.”
