The recent incident at Sandeshkhali has raised security concerns and there are discussions about the possibility of additional Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) deployment as both the Enforcement Directorate(ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) urged the Union home ministry for it. According to sources, the issue is already under discussion with the Union home minister Amit Shah.

Allegations suggest that during investigations into ration scam, ED personnel faced attacks in Sandeshkhali, with some being injured and three being admitted in hospital. Security personnel accompanying them also reportedly did not escape violence. Following this, there might be an additional force provided for their protection.

The ongoing discussions indicate that if a particular force (consisting of around 82-83 personnel) is deployed, they will be kept as reserve and may be used for the assistance of the ED and CBI, as needed. The primary role of this force could be in collaboration with the ED and CBI for undercover operations.

However, there is no official confirmation about it from the Union home minister yet. The current focus is on the deployment of two companies for the ED, CBI and discussions are on with the CRPF. The recent attack has made officials more cautious during operations, with personnel wearing helmets and carrying shields.

Further deliberations are underway for the deployment of an additional force, emp hasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of both intelligence and security personnel.
