Trinamul Congress national general secretary threw challenges for a one-to-one debate regarding central fund allocation for West Bengal and deprivation of people of the state.
He mentioned recently on X that before the elections, the central leadership of the BJP has repeatedly visited the state and Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had come to address rallies, raising allegations of pending funds but the party was no good and did not release a single penny for state development. He also said that PM Modi has accused the ruling party of corruption while addressing the issue of withheld funds but could not ever utter the benevolent works for the state with the central funds. Subsequently, Abhishek, through social media, has strongly criticized the BJP, stating that funds for housing schemes are not being provided to the state.
The Trinamul Congress has faced repeated opposition from the central government, with Abhishek challenging the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Abhishek Banerjee, the national general secretary of the Trinamul Congress, has recently posted a stern message to the BJP through social media. Abhishek wrote, “Do not spread falsehoods. Tell the BJP leadership to sit with me for a one-on-one debate. If they have given even a single penny for housing schemes or MGNREGA, then publish the white paper.”
He claimed that since the defeat in the state Assembly elections of 2021, the central government has not provided any funds. Notably, there has been continuous confrontation over the issue of 100 days’ work and housing scheme funds, leading to repeated clashes with the central administration. Abhishek had gone to Delhi to protest on this issue. “The @BJP4India is SQUANDERING PUBLIC FUNDS to SPREAD FALSEHOODS. I challenge the BJP leadership to engage in a ONE ON ONE DEBATE with me and RELEASE WHITE PAPER proving the allocation of even 1 PAISA to progs like AWAS YOJNA & MGNREGA since their defeat in the 2021 WB elections,” he wrote on X handle.
