As many as 161 centenarian voters will exercise their franchise in this year’s Lok Sabha election in East Burdwan district tomorrow. The district has two Lok Sabha constituencies – Bardhaman-Durgapur and Bardhaman Purba. Bardhaman-Durgapur constituency along with it’s neighbouring Bardhaman Purba constituency has as many as 158 voters aged between 100 and 109 years and 19,449 voters aged above 85 years, a database prepared by the District Election authorities indicates.
One of the voters is 120 year old who’s residing in Katwa. Two voters are aged between 110 to 119 years in the district and both are female voters. Among the senior most voters, 122 are female and 36 male voters. Bardhaman-Durgapur constituency has 18.51 lakh voters and Bardhaman Purba seat has 18.01 lakh voters in aggregate. Bardhaman Durgapur seat covers seven Assembly segments. Of them DurgapurPaschim Assembly segment has highest voter strength (2.76 lakh) and Monteswar has the lowest number of voters (2.48 lakh). Bardhaman Purba includes seven Assembly segments. Of them Katwa segment has the highest (2.76 lakh) voters and Jamalpur segment has the lowest number (2.41 Lakh) of voters.
