Counting underway for Bengal’s 6 Assembly seats, Trinamool leads in three
Counting is underway for bypolls to six Assembly constituencies in West Bengal. As per the early trends, Trinamool Congress led three of the six Assembly constituencies.
There are 400 blocks and all block presidents were asked to be present at Trinamul Bhavan.
After the Durga Puja, now it is time for Trinamul chief, Mamata Banerjee, to concentrate on party work and she has convened a meeting of the block presidents, panchayat samiti presidents and zilla sabhadhipatis of the party. The meeting is slated at 2.30 p.m. It is also learnt that Abhishek Banerjee, MP and Trinamul Youth Congress president, Prasant Kishore, chief minister’s political advisor and Trinamul Congress all India general secretary would be present. The Trinamul chief in a bid to revamp the party organisation ahead of the 2021 assembly polls in West Bengal and discuss its strategy for it, has called a meeting of at the grass root level where all block presidents and functionaries on Tuesday.
Earlier also, she met all her party MLAs at Trinamul Bhavan, after the Assembly session ended and asked each MLA to submit names of four party workers from each constituency to her Kalighat party office by 18 July. Suggestions of the poll strategist Prashant Kishor and his team for regaining lost ground would also be discussed at the meeting, the leader said. According to TMC sources, efforts that would need to be taken to plug the loopholes both in the party and the government would be discussed.
