After being arrested Pooja Pandey said, “No regrets. We have not committed any crime. We have used our Constitutional right.”

On the occasion of the 71st death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, workers of Hindu Mahasabha fired at the effigy of Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, inviting public outrage on social media.

“The incident took place in a house in Naurangabad locality of the city. Later, the video of the event went viral on social media,” Senior Superintendent of Police of Aligarh Akash Kulhary told PTI.

The police had registered cases against 13 persons, including Shakun in connection with the incident. The police also conducted raids to nab the accused persons.

The Aligarh police had arrested an advocate identified as Gajendra. Two others were also arrested but they got bail from the court the same day.

Earlier there were reports that Shakun was expected to surrender before the police in a day or two.

The well-educated Pooja was appointed the first ‘Nyaydheesh’ (judge) of Hindu Nyaypeeth – the first so-called Hindu court established in Naurangabad locality of Aligarh.
