Over 2,74 crore power consumers to face the heat in UP
The annual revenue requirement of all the power companies is around Rs 92547 crore. The gap for the year 2023-24 is Rs 9140 crore.
For hearing grievances of the power consumers and to entertain new complaints, the members of the Consumer Grievances Redressal Forum (CGRF) of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) will make extensive visits in the month of January.
A spokesperson of the UHBVN said that the proceedings of the CGRF would be held in the circle office at Yamunanagar on 2 January, Karnal on 3 January, Panipat on 5 January, Sonipat on 10 January, Rohtak on 18 January, Panchkula on 23 January, Ambala on 24 January, Kurukshetra on 25 January, Jhajjar on 29 January and Kaithal on 30 January, respectively.
He said that the CGRF would take all grievances or complaints of consumers like billing problem, voltage complaints, problems in metering, disconnection and reconnection of the power supply, interruptions, failure of power supply, efficiency, safety, reliability, non-compliance of Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission HERC) orders and others.

However, the cases of theft and unauthorised use of electricity, offences and penalties as specified under Section 126 and Sections 135 to 139 of Electricity Act, accidents and inquiries as under Section 161 of the Act would not be considered by the Forum, he added.
All the consumers had been requested to avail the opportunity for the redressal of their grievances, he said.
