Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain managed to find a way around UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules as they signed Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe on a season-long loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the immediate arrival of Kylian Mbappe,” a PSG statement read.

“The international French striker is transferred on a loan basis from AS Monaco until June 30 2018. The loan agreement also includes a  call option for Paris Saint-Germain which, when exercised, will bind the player to Paris Saint-Germain until June 30 2022,” the statement added.

PSG, who broke the transfer record to sign Neymar from Barcelona for a staggering fee of €222 million, had reportedly been told by UEFA that there was no way a similar amount could be spent on an another player in the same transfer window.

So, to avoid falling foul of any potential sanctions, Les Parisiens came to an agreement with Monaco that reportedly involves a ‘must-buy for €180 million’ clause for next season in their deal for Mbappe.

“It is with great joy and pride that I join Paris Saint-Germain”, Mbappe was quoted as saying by the club website after signing his contract.

“For any young person from the Paris region, it is often a dream to wear the red and blue jersey and experience the unique atmosphere of the Parc des Princes. I really wanted to be a part of the club’s project, which is one of the most ambitious in Europe,” the French forward added.

Just 19, Mbappe is seen as the future of French football and became one of the continent’s hottest properties with his sensational displays for Monaco in the UEFA Champions League and Ligue 1.

Monaco eventually lost out to Juventus at the semi-final stage of the continental competition but did manage to pip PSG to the domestic league title and on the way, a star was born.

Along with sizzling pace and incredible dribbling skills, Mbappe’s eye for goal made the world sit up and take notice for a teenager to score 26 goals (all competitions) in just 44 appearances made him out to be a one-in-a-generation talent.

Along with Neymar, PSG now have a frightening amount of firepower in attack and after dominating French football for the past couple of seasons (barring the last) look set to conquer Europe as well.
