Man Utd’s Manuel Ugarte in doubt to face Brentford after suffering knock vs Ecuador
The nature of his injury remains unclear, but it raises concerns over his availability for Saturday’s clash at Old Trafford.
The 31-year-old proving once again, that he is a team-player first!
Wayne Rooney on Monday night may have become only the second man after Alan Shearer to reach the 200-goal mark in the Premier League, but the Everton striker was not happy despite reaching the milestone.
The 31-year-old has been in fine form for the Toffees following his move in the summer after spending a trophy-laden 13 seasons with Manchester United.
He scored the winner in Everton’s opener against Stoke and followed it up with a well-taken goal at Manchester City but the Toffees were unable to hold on to their slender advantage as Raheem Sterling struck a late equaliser to deny them a famous win. Renowned for his fighting spirit, it comes as no surprise that the veteran put his team first in his post-match comments, rather than focusing on his own goalscoring exploits.
Rooney had largely been written off as a spent force after a series of underwhelming performances in recent seasons with United but after his goalscoring displays for the Toffees, has proven that he isn’t done yet.
Perhaps a change of scenery was required for the 31-year-old to revitalise his flagging career and the early signs are certainly promising.
The Toffees recently broke their transfer record to acquire Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea and once the Icelandic midfielder settles in, fans can look forward to the duo combining to devastating effect in the coming weeks.
