Burnley, who have been this season’s surprise package, trot out in their customary 4-5-1 formation, with Nick Pope starting between the sticks behind a four-man defence of Phil Bardsley, Ben Mee, Kevin Long and Charlie Taylor.
Scott Arfield, Jack Cork, Steven Defour, Johan Gudmundsson and Jeff Hendrick line up in midfield behind striker Ashley Barnes.
Sean Dyche’s men, who are currently in seventh place, have been giving as good as they get against the best of the Premier League and are expected to make life difficult for their fancied opponents.
United, under pressure to register a win after a demoralising 2-2 draw against Leicester City on the weekend, have the opportunity to momentarily trim the gap between themselves and leaders Manchester City to 10 points if they beat the Clarets on Boxing Day.
Manchester United: De Gea, Young, Jones, Rojo, Shaw, Matic, Pogba (c), Mata, Ibrahimovic, Rashford and Lukaku.
Burnley: Pope, Bardsley, Long, Mee, Taylor, Arfield, Cork, Hendrick, Defour, Gudmundsson and Barnes.
Match starts at 1500 GMT/20.30 IST.
