Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Ishfaq Padder involved in abduction and murder of Rajputana Rifles (RR) Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz in May this year was killed by security forces on Saturday in an encounter in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Saturday.
The encounter led to clashes between security forces and youths in Srinagar and Anantnag

The security forces used teargas shells to disperse the youth.
Padder was among the list of twelve top terrorists in the region released by the security forces. Ten of these terrorists have been killed and one had surrendered himself.
Police said that, a team of 62 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), CRPF and Special Operations Group (SOG) of the state police cordoned the village and started house to house search for Padder.
Security forces trailed Padder to the Tantripura village in Kulgam district in the morning and asked him to surrender but he started firing at the security personnel resulting in an encounter in which he was killed.
Padder was among the terrorists who abducted the 22-year-old Lt Ummer Fayaz , who was posted in Akhnoor, from a marriage party of his cousin.
His body was found the next morning in Harmen village of Shopian district on 10 May.
