Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday accused the Punjab Police of “shielding” and thus delaying the arrest of jailed Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s “adopted daughter” Honeypreet Insan.

“Punjab Police has helped her (Honeypreet) and shielded her. They had the information about her but did not share it with us,” Khattar told the media.

“Definitely, there is something amiss and we will find it out soon as her interrogation is on and she will spill the beans,” he added.

Honeypreet was on Thursday taken to Bathinda– where she was hiding before being nabbed– for investigations into charges of sedition, a day after a court in Panchkula sent her to six days police remand.

Honeypreet remained fugitive for 38 days after she was booked by Haryana Police on charge of sedition and was arrested on Tuesday from the Zirakpur-Patiala highway, about 15 km from Chandigarh.

The court had in September issued arrest warrants against top Dera functionaries — Honeypreet, Aditya Insan and Pawan Insan— after being charged of sedition, inciting violence and being involved in a conspiracy to help Ram Rahim escape following his conviction by a CBI court.
